work in progress

by Docks Beers

Work In Progress is our first small-batch, experimental project that offers people the chance to sample innovative craft beers which focus on particular brewing methods, aspects or beer styles.

Docks Beers head brewer Mike Richards brewing the new Work in Progress range

Over the last two years we have put in the hard hours to produce our core range of beers, plus seasonal brews. But now that we finally have a pilot kit we wanted to set ourselves a new challenge: to really push our brewing skills in the quest for innovative beers, freed from the risks of getting a 2400L brew wrong! We will feed the very best of Work In Progress through for brewing on our bigger brew kit and broaden the range of the beers that we can offer our customers.

Docks Beers Work in Progress - brewing process

Our aim is for ‘WIP’ to be an environment where our brewers can be creative, explore new ideas and deep-dive into specific areas of the craft brewing process. Every series we produce will include three beers, each with a different focus. This could be anything from a particular hop, to a single beer style. “The project is going to be an adventure for the whole team, and we’re super excited about it,” said Shaz Shadan, co-Founder of Docks Beers and the person behind WIP. These beers will be bottled on-site at King Edward Street and made available to anyone who wants to come along on this journey of brewing discovery with us!

“We’re going to make beers that should suit both the seasoned craft beer drinker and people who are just up for trying something a bit unusual and exciting.”

These WIP beers will be brewed on our 100L pilot kit in the brewery, so we’ll only be able to make a limited number available for people to try – less than 200 bottles per brew. To kick off the project, we’ll be releasing the Gose Series in April. It will be the first time we have ever made a Gose, the beer style which originated from Goslar in Germany. It’s a sour wheat beer brewed with coriander and salt.

Docks Beers Work In Progress - Gose Series

The Gose Series includes Peach (6.8%), Spiced (4.5%) and Orange & Sapphire (6%) and will be available from our webshop and taproom shop very soon. We’re expecting a lot of buzz around these new, limited-edition WIP beers, so urge you to act fast when they launch. Because when they are gone, they are gone.

Over the last two years we have put in the hard hours to produce our core range of beers, plus seasonal brews. But now that we finally have a pilot kit we wanted to set ourselves a new challenge: to make more interesting new beers for regular release and subsequently broaden the range of the beers that we brew on the bigger brew kit. This is why we are launching Work In Progress.
