Docks Beers is an independent brewery and taproom located in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, known for its dedication to crafting accessible, high-quality beers. Our brewery is committed to pushing the boundaries of brewing while ensuring our space remains welcoming and inclusive to all.
Located above our brewery and taproom is Docks Academy, a dynamic and versatile cultural venue that opened its doors in March 2020. The Academy offers a flexible space accommodating up to 200 seated or 300 standing guests. It hosts a diverse and engaging programme, including live music performances, theatre productions, stand-up comedy, performing arts showcases, lectures, creative workshops, exhibitions and private events.
Docks Kitchen is a brand new street food outlet which will be based on the premises at Docks Beers and Docks Academy. Docks Kitchen will offer high quality, local food with rotating menus and is due to open later in 2025.
Docks Kitchen, the street food-style kitchen based at Docks Beers in Grimsby, is looking for a passionate and experienced Head Chef / Kitchen Manager. This is a unique opportunity to lead a growing food operation delivering fast, fresh, and high-quality dishes that pair perfectly with our award-winning craft beers. You’ll oversee the full kitchen operation—from leading a skilled team to driving bold, creative menu innovation inspired by street food trends.
Lead the day-to-day operations of a busy street kitchen, ensuring fast service and top-
quality dishes Recruit, train and manage the kitchen team to maintain high morale and performance
Drive creative, seasonal menu development with a strong street food influence
Monitor and maintain kitchen budgets, stock levels and supplier relationships
Implement and uphold all food hygiene and safety procedures in line with current legislation
Prepare and maintain kitchen documentation and cleaning schedules for EHO inspections
Liaise directly with Environmental Health Officers (EHO) to ensure compliance and
achieve/maintain a 5-star hygiene rating
Collaborate with the wider team to support events and high-volume trading periods
Proven leadership experience in a kitchen or street food environment, ideally in a fast- casual or independent setting
Strong organisational skills to manage prep, service, stock, staffing and kitchen cleanliness effectively
Passion for bold, street food-inspired flavours with a willingness to contribute to menu development and seasonal specials
Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards with relevant certifications (e.g. Level 3 Food Safety)
Experience managing kitchen budgets, cost control, ordering and minimising waste
Ability to recruit, train, and lead a small, agile kitchen team with high morale and strong communication
Comfort working in a busy, high-pressure service environment, particularly during events and peak trading times
Collaborative mindset – keen to work with the brewery and front-of-house team to deliver a unified guest experience
Creative problem-solver – able to adapt quickly to challenges or changes in demand
Commitment to quality and consistency, ensuring every dish meets Docks Kitchen standards
Positive, hands-on attitude – willing to jump on the line, help with clean-downs and lead by example
Tech-savvy where needed, able to manage digital ordering systems, stock software or kitchen displays
£32,500 salary
23 days holiday plus bank holidays
