We have built the area’s premier taproom and live music venue (Docks Academy). Alongside this, our festival, DocksFest, is North East Lincolnshire’s premier live-music festival, which has music fans nationwide attending in Cleethorpes.
We are looking to recruit a new Bar Manager to join the team at Docks Beers.
As Bar Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy taproom bar, plus outbound events, ensuring smooth and efficient service while maintaining high standards. You will work closely with the ops Directors and bar management team and step up in their absence when required. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of management experience and a passion for hospitality, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
The role will include evening and weekend work, as well as taking part in some outbound events attended by the business.
– Create a fun, friendly work environment to boost team morale and encourage teamwork.
– Manage the mobile bar for external events (e.g., Christmas markets, festivals), including setup (heavy lifting required).
– Organize and allocate daily tasks to ensure smooth shifts and seamless handovers.
– Rectify mistakes efficiently and handle customer complaints appropriately, providing feedback to management.
– Undertake administrative tasks, including:
Responding to enquiries
Staff rotas and absence management
Health & Safety compliance
Updating Untappd menus
Completing website orders
Managing stock levels and ordering
Weekly stock takes and managing wastage
– Generate and present weekly reports on wastage and stock to management.
– Ensure adherence to venue safety protocols, including alarms, equipment, and evacuation procedures.
– Lead building evacuations if necessary.
– Manage and maintain cellar operations, ensuring high-quality standards.
– Follow correct opening and closing procedures for bar areas, delegating tasks as needed.
– Uphold and implement Docks Beers’ procedures, introducing improvements when necessary.
– Ensure compliance with company policies, licensing legislation, and the Challenge 25 scheme.
– Train and develop new and existing team members, maintaining consistent standards.
– Handle admin-based tasks such as managing the trade sales portal, creating e-shots, and replying to enquiries.
– Act as a keyholder, responsible for opening and closing the building.
– Be available during peak business periods.
You may be asked to undertake alternative or additional duties as may be commensurate with your skills, experience and capabilities.
– 2+ years’ experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager in hospitality.
– Enthusiasm for craft beer and live music.
– Proven experience leading successful hospitality teams.
– Personal license (desirable).
– Experience in hospitality-led operations (beneficial but not essential).
– Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
– Excellent organizational and time management skills.
– Ability to inspire, lead, and motivate a team.
– Sociable, attentive, and naturally hospitable.
– Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer literacy.
– Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
– UK driving license Essential
