The Docks Beers Update

Hello again Docks fans and welcome to all the latest goings-on at Docks Beers.

Sorry for the temporary radio silence. We’ve been itching to write another newsletter, but we’ve been dead busy making new beers, reopening after lockdown and running a drive-in (as you’ll find out if you keep reading).

Against all odds (er… tune by the way!), we’ve managed to pull together this update for you.

Docks brewers Mike and Lewis don’t hang about. Today we are launching another brand new beer called ‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’.

Few people know that Grimsby has a rich brewing history and once had one of the biggest breweries in the whole country operating just a stone’s throw from where we make our beers now. This beer pays homage to all of the local people who have worked in the industry.

‘Blood, Sweat & Tears’ will be available in our taproom from Friday 11th September but you can buy a 6, 12 or 24 pack by clicking the link below.

Brut Force, Leap of Faith and Risky Biscuitness now on sale

We have slashed the prices of three of our beers in the Docks Shop.

You can now get a six pack of Brut Force for just £16, while Risky Biscuitness and Leap of Faith are £17.40.

If you need to stock up your cupboard with a few more cans, these three beers are a steal!

kveik ipa honours key workers

As a tribute to the millions of frontline workers around the world who have grafted their guts out during the fight against Covid-19, we’ve made True Grit.

This banging 6.2% Kveik IPA is designed as a thank you to all those who have gone the extra mile during the pandemic.

As a small gesture of our own thanks, we are donating 10p from every can and pint sold to the Health Tree Foundation – a very worthy charity working closely with our local hospitals.

humber bitter launched last week

We meant it when we said we’ve been busy. Over lockdown, we’ve not only brewed three new beers (Atomic Sunset, Uncontrolled Explosion and True Grit), we’ve also been working on our first ever cask bitter which we hope will bridge the gap between cask and craft.

Humber Bitter is a russet-coloured modern bitter, hopped with English First Gold and Ernest hops. It has a minty, almost herbal spiciness, with a complex aniseed and liquorice finish.

We’ve called it ‘Humber Bitter’ because the estuary (and its bridge) are synonymous with our region and our link to the rest of the world. It’s a huge part of our history… and we think it’s also part of our future.

Humber Bitter launched last weekend simultaneously in our Grimsby taproom and at the Minerva in Hull.

Man, have we got some amazing street food coming to the Church over the next few weeks!

From Friday 11th until Sunday 13th, Hun Street Kitchen are in town offering cuisine inspired by the food markets of Budapest.

The following weekend, get your laughing gear around some of Little Urban BBQ’s tasty Texas-style smoked meats.

Then at the end of the month, on 25th to 27th, Little Bao Boy will be serving up traditional Chinese cuisine with a 21st century twist.

book a table ahead of your next visit

Unless you’ve been living under a stone for the last month, you’ll know that we reopened the Church last month and we had to make some changes to the taproom to make sure we comply with government guidelines.

One of the major differences is that we have introduced an online bookings system for people to secure themselves a table for up to three hours at Docks Beers in the taproom, outside the taproom and, now, in the Academy.

To book yourself a table, click here, choose the date you want to come and add your details. It’s that easy. Walk-ins are still possible downstairs. You don’t have to book but it will guarantee you’re not disappointed if you do.

brewery tours: an update

After the lockdown hiatus, we are over the moon that we can offer tours of our brewery once again.

The team are currently working hard contacting people who already had a tour booked between March and August and rearranging new dates for them.

However, there are spaces left for people who want to arrange a tour of our 15-barrel brewery and meet one of our talented brewers.

Brewery tours take place every first and third Sunday of the month and are a super birthday present, activity for a stag or hen do, or just simply a chilled out experience with a group of friends or family.
