Spring has arrived… well sort of. So let’s take a look at what we’ve got coming up at the church of beer in April. To kick things off, how about a big announcement to get you all excited?
Get ready to see a lot more of Docks Beers in your local boozers because we’ve just agreed a partnership with Dee Bee Wholesale – one of the country’s leading independent cash and carry and delivery suppliers!
Dee Bee’s will help us distribute our cask ales, kegged beers and cans to pubs, hotels and shops all over Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, and even as far as Newcastle and Merseyside.
“Speaking of the new partnership, Nick Ramsden, Managing Director of Dee Bee Wholesale said “Docks are brewing the best craft beer for miles around and so we see this as a fantastic addition to our product range. There has already been a lot of interest from publicans and we have not even fully launched yet. This is just phase one of the partnership – it is our joint aim to add the full Docks Beers can range to our wholesale retail offering before the end of the year.”
Since becoming one of the highest rated Lincolnshire breweries on Untappd, it’s been our aim to be the dominant Lincolnshire craft beer brewer on the bars of our county. We’ve a strong feeling that this deal will help us get there sooner rather than later.
Work in Hospitality? Well, from Monday 4th April we’re going to be opening our food kitchen Mockingbird Streetfood and giving anyone who works in hospitality 10% off all food and drinks in our taproom.
As hospitality workers ourselves, we know that it’s difficult to find somewhere that does decent booze or tasty grub because many restaurants and bars are closed on a Monday. So this offer is for all the bartenders, chefs, waitresses and restaurateurs who haven’t had anywhere to go for too long!
This offer will run every Monday between 5 and 9pm if you eat in or takeaway (but only collections). Both the taproom and Mockingbird will of course still be open to everyone, but the 10% discount will only apply if you work in hospitality and can prove it with a pay slip.
It’s a four-day Easter weekend coming up from Friday 15th – Monday 18th April so we’re hoping we’ll see you for at least a scoop or two!
Our taproom is usually rammed on a Friday, but this one will have an extra buzz with local heroes Orphan Boy playing their much anticipated sold-out gig in the Academy that evening. And Saturday will have a similar vibe as another 280 people are in the building for the Grimsby band’s second sold-out show. Sunday will probably be a bit more chilled throughout the day but we’re anticipating another busy one with our closing time extended to 11pm. On Monday, we’ll be opening at noon and close at 6pm, so our staff can have a well-earned rest!
Although we can’t guarantee decent weather, we can guarantee a tap wall full of beers, good tunes, lovely people and great food from the Mockingbird street food container.
We’ve got six exciting shows and a club night taking place at Docks Academy in April.
First up on Saturday 2nd, GTFC fans will be able to relive the spine tingling experience of Wembley ‘16 when James McKeown, Craig Disley and Shaun Pearson get together for the Promotion Season Q&A, hosted by local funny man and Mariners fan Lloyd Griffith. On Sunday 3rd, one of the UK’s most exciting new indie bands are in town. October Drift have gained a reputation for delivering blistering, high-energy live shows and have been bigged up by the likes of Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy and Q magazine.
Pioneer of indie-folk-electro fusion Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. is playing on Friday 8th April and the following day it’s the next installment of our Red Herring Comedy Club – featuring four new comics who’ll probably have you in hysterics.
Over the Easter Weekend, Grimsby’s renowned indie band Orphan Boy will play two sold-out reunion shows a decade after calling it a day. Then, on Saturday 30th April, Propaganda, one of the UK’s biggest indie nights, will be spinning singalong anthems from 9pm till 2am.
For more information about those gigs, get yourself over to the Docks Academy site for a nosey.
In March we announced that Mockingbird Streetfood – our permanent food offering at Docks Beers – can now be ordered through Just Eat. Along with the Grimsby & Clee Eats app, that means there’s now two ways you can order tasty chicken tenders and succulent mock chicken 7 days a week!
Also worth reminding people is that Mockingbird is open from 8.30am Tuesday to Sunday for coffee, cakes and other sweet things. Their lattes, mochas and flat whites are made using Extract Coffee, one of the UK’s leading independent coffee brands. And our cakes are just an absolute delight. Come try them if you haven’t already.
