The Docks Beers Update
March 2021
March 2021
Firstly, keep hanging in there everybody. We know how difficult it is at the moment. Lockdowns were tough when the sun was blazing; so a wet and cold winter one has been a real test. But keep your chin up, because we now have a vaccine, spring is just around the corner and we’ve got lots of exciting things to look forward to… and that’s just from us! So without further ado, let’s get cracking…

In celebration of the long-awaited takeover of our beloved hometown club Grimsby Town FC, we have just launched Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap Fish.
The beer name pays homage to the chant Town supporters made famous during our non league days. We have fingers and toes crossed that we beat the drop under new ownership and will be singing this chant in the Football League for many moons to come!
It’s a 4.4% hazy session pale ale, made with vast quantities of Simcoe, Hallertau Blanc hops along with an injection of Cryo Cascade which deliver a tropical fruit hit. We think you will like its low bitterness and drinkability.
Clap Fish is now on sale in packs of 6, 12 and 24. We have also produced a new glass that includes the geometric fish pattern and chant slogan… but that sold out within the first 12 hours of launch. Don’t sweat it, though, we have more on order. Keep an eye on our socials for more details.
Yes, we have just bought this sexy little 100 litre pilot kit.
We made this addition to our brew house because it allows us to try some more experimental craft beer styles in 2021 and beyond.
Our brewers Mike and Lewis have been getting used to the new kit and we can reveal that they have already brewed some small-batch beers on it… but we’ll be telling you more about those as well as something BIG we’re planning very soon. Keep an eye on social media for more information.
For now though, here’s an image of Mike in his happy place.
Later this month we’re excited to release our first ever sour.
It’s called ‘Fruits of Labour’ and it’s 5.5% and packed with blackberries, blackcurrants and black peppercorns. It’s really fruity with an intriguing spiciness to it.
Never heard of a sour before? It’s a beer that tastes – you guessed it – a bit on the sour side, but pleasantly so. Sours are made by allowing wild yeast strains or bacteria into the brew which change the flavour. ‘Fruits of Labour’ is hopped with Willemette (from the USA) and Tettnanger (from Germany), giving the beer a herbal and spicy finish.
Everyone in the team that’s tried it can’t get enough of it. So we recommend you keep an eye out for the drop later this month.
“Mother: the most beautiful word on the lips of mankind.”
We are totally on board with Kahil Gibran and want to remind you that Sunday 14th March is Mother’s Day. Go on, make a note in your diary before you forget to spoil the most important woman in your life! This year you’re not going to be able to treat mum to a trip to our taproom, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give her that Docks Beers fix she’s obviously craving.
Our webshop is full of gifts and bundles that we’re sure will go down a storm with mam. There’s tote bags, boozy chocolates, new mixed packs, merch bundles and of course, we’re fully stocked up with our popular Stevedore Rum and Maritime Gin.
We can’t wait to throw open our doors and welcome you back to Docks Beers.
We are mindful that the Government’s published dates for reopening are only targets. As we write, the infection rate in North East Lincolnshire is rising again. Last year we adopted a wait and see approach, and reopened one month after most other establishments. As things stand, we can say that Docks Beers will re-open only when the Directors of the business think it is safe for both its staff and customers.
Last year in tier 1 we had lots of feedback from people saying that they loved the vibe of our covid secure venue and, most importantly, they felt safe during the visit. This time around you can rest assured we will be following all the guidance to the letter. Hopefully, if everyone continues to do their bit and follow the rules, we’ll be back open again in no time.
