The Docks Beers Update

JULY 2022

READY FOR SHORE LEAVE?

Kickstarting July, we not only have a new collab beer, but also a Tap Takeover!

As you will have previously seen on our social channels, at the end of May we welcomed our good friends from the North Bank, Bone Machine Brew. Co, to the Church for a collaboration brew. The result of our union? We present SHORE LEAVE, a classic West Coast IPA, pouring a rich, deep amber colour with aromas of citrus fruit and spice. A touch of crystal malt and a respectable 6.9% ABV adds a warming caramel flavour, underpinning a heady mix of Centennial, Amarillo and Simcoe hops which give us orange, grapefruit and pine flavours. A libation to make you feel like a Three Day Millionaire.

We are more than a little bit excited to have a Bone Machine tap takeover, our first of 2022! Commencing Friday 1st July, and running into July 2nd. Meet & chat to the brewers about all things beer, and an insight into how our new WCIPA came to be. Bone Machine will also be bringing a fine selection of their beer range for visitors to try on-tap, and to take away in can. Both Bone Machine and Docks will be offering raffle prizes, including cans and merch. This is a free event and you can join us on a walk-in basis, so come on down and start the weekend right!

PADDLE AND A PINT

What better way to spend your evening than a leisurely paddle board session followed by a pint afterwards?

Docks Beers and Ebb & Flo are once again working together to host another round of ‘Paddle & A Pint’ sessions, running through the summer! Starting July 21st, join us for a social SUP on the locally renowned Alexandra Dock from 6-7pm. Paddle in a historic part of the town and socialise with people on the water. After you’ve dried off, stop by the Church for a pint afterwards from 7:00-9:00pm. Can’t make it? There are two more dates in August (4th and 18th) to get your SUP fix.

There’s something for everyone…

This months Red Herring Comedy Club features headliner Ignacio Lopez, along with Kuan-wen Huang, Steve Hall and MC James Cook. Tickets are now on sale priced at £14.50 (when purchased in advance) or £16 on the door. This is the last one until September, so don’t miss out!

Following the success of Red Rum Club in January, we bring you another Revive Live gig – Sick Joy, a noise-pop Nirvana-esque band from Brighton. This event is happening thanks to The National Lottery’s Revive Live Tour, in association with the Music Venue Trust. Lovers of alternative music listen up! Propaganda – the UK’s biggest indie music club night returns to Docks Academy. Expect a mix of every indie singalong anthem you can think of, from the genre’s best known and loved artists including Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys and The 1975, plus many more. Indie not your thing? We’ve got plenty of My Chemical Romance, Paramore, and Fall Out Boy just for the pop-punk kid inside us all! Tickets are £5 plus See Tickets booking fee.

We have many more shows planned for the remainder of this year, and into 2023. Have a look at what’s coming up…

PAINT THE TOWN… PINK & GREEN?

In case you have been living under a rock, we are pleased to inform you that Grimsby Town are BACK IN THE EFL!

By now, it’s no surprise to you that Docks Beers has more than a soft spot for the mighty Mariners. We operate the bar in the Mariners Trust Fanzone at Blundell Park and recently we hosted a James McKeown testimonial event and an end of season party. However, we are perhaps best known for our trilogy of beers which pay homage to the club we love. These beers have been supported and so well received by passionate Mariners fans, and we owe a massive thank you to them for buying them in force! In honour of the club’s recent promotion out of the National League, we are pleased to announce a new brew to celebrate this moment in Town’s history. Introducing… GOING UP JUICE, which will be available within the next few weeks.

This soft, juicy hazy 4.5% pale ale already brimming with tropical flavours is rocketed up the leagues with an infusion of guava. The defensive pairing of wheat and oats keeps the beer soft and full-bodied. An underpinning midfield of Simcoe and Hallertau Blanc hops adds a piney, soft fruit edge which supports the marquee signing upfront: a massive infusion of guava puree making for a super refreshing, pumped-up tropical beer. The launch is only weeks away. Wondering how you’ll manage until this tropical tipple drops? Check out our previous GTFC-inspired beers and stock.

BREWING UP A STORM

At the end of June, we welcomed brewing legend Stuart Ross from the equally legendary Leeds-based brewery, Kirkstall. Stuart came to Grimsby for yet another collaboration brew. To keep you in suspense we won’t be launching this or sharing any details for a few weeks. You’re just going to have to wait and see what we came up with. But rest assured it’s a banger.

That’s it for now, but make sure you follow @docksbeers on socials for all the latest brewery news!
