The Docks Beers Update
August 2021
August 2021
How is it August already? There’s been plenty going on at the Church of Beer.
We’ve added a few new faces to the team (more on one of them later), we have opened a container bar at Grimsby Town FC and we’re gearing up to release our latest series of WIP and our eagerly anticipated collab beer with The Sherlocks – keep an eye on your inbox and social media so you don’t miss when they drop. There will be more on all these stories in September’s newsletter.

First up, here is news about Docks Beers gaining a listing in a major grocery chain…
Last month we landed a deal with the Co-op which sees Overtime, Never Say Die and Mangoverboard on the shelves of Co-op’s regional stores in Lincolnshire including Barton-upon-Humber, Cleethorpes and beyond!
This is a great step forward for Docks Beers in our third year of business and is a real cause for celebration as we emerge from the pandemic in growth.
Another milestone was reached last week. While Sam was busy racking yet another brew of Cleethorpes Pale Ale, we realised that it was the 800th brew we’ve made since opening the doors of our parent company Axholme Brewing Co in 2012. At this rate, it won’t be too long to wait until it’s our 1,000th brew. We are planning something extra special for that.
After the year we’ve had, you’re probably thinking about getting away this summer.
Whether it’s a trip to the beach, camping in the hills or just a weekend away somewhere nice, don’t forget to take Docks Beers with you. From 6 packs to mixed packs, mini casks and spirits, we’ve got what you need to make your trip that little bit better… whatever the weather decides to do.
And while you are away, post snaps of your Docks Beers and merch around the UK and if it’s on socials make sure you include the hashtag #DocksonTour. We will pick a photo at random at the end of August and the winner will get a £30 voucher to spend online.
One of the best things about this summer has been the resurrection of Docks Academy.
Since reopening we have hosted some brilliant nights of comedy and music… and the gigs keep on coming. Here’s a breakdown of up and coming shows for which tickets are available:
Thursday 12th August – Teenage Werewolves
Friday 10th September – Smoove & Turrell
Saturday 11th September – Red Herring Comedy Club
Saturday 25th September – K.O.G. & The Zongo Brigade
Saturday 9th October – Red Herring Comedy Club
Saturday 13th November – Red Herring Comedy Club
Friday 19th November – Stereo MCs
We are delighted to introduce Rory Lynch who is the newest member of the Docks Beers brewing team.
Rory has brewed some outstanding beers in the past, most recently for Crafty1 in Grimsby and he even had his own brewery in New Zealand called Crooked Concept. Rory likes to experiment with new beer recipes and is a regular home brewer. He tends to go for the dry and bitter session beers, and if stuck on a desert island he’d choose Saison Dupont. But his Docks Beer of choice is our Overtime Craft Lager.
Rory says his aim is “To bring some of what I have learned on my travels back to Grimsby, and make the best damn beer we can”. We can’t wait for you to taste some of the new beers that he’s already started brewing.
After many hours of hard graft, we opened our container bar at Grimsby Town Football Club’s new Mariners Trust fan zone for James McKeown’s testimonial.
Stu, Sid and Sam were at Blundell Park dishing out the pints to fans who stayed behind for the beer and food festival which took place after the Rotherham game.
It was great to see Docks Beers on sale at our local football club and we’re looking forward to the container being open for every matchday during the 2021-22 season… starting on Saturday 28th August against Weymouth.
Remember, the fan zone will be open from midday on a Saturday matchday, at half-time and immediately after the final whistle.
