Live Music – Grimsby Institute music takeover 2026

Local music students from the Grimsby Institute for Higher Education take over Docks Academy for the 4th year in a row on Thursday, 21st May, to showcase their bands in a live setting!

Supporting the next generation of musical talent, Docks Academy will be ‘taken over’ by students of the Grimsby Institute for the 4th year in a row, a collaboration which will give a platform to the students and allow them to perform in an established venue.

At this free event, which is open to all, the students will perform in front of a crowd and gain essential stage experience.  Docks Academy is delighted to be supporting the young music students of GIFHE and hopes our regular gig-goers will support this night of emerging North East Lincolnshire talent.

The line-up on the night:

Mismatched Ft. France Winston: Featuring Abbie and Sophie on vocals, Deon and Allenby swapping between guitar and drums, and Roman on guitar, this dynamic five-piece delivers a diverse set of covers spanning brit-pop to rock classics. With a versatile sound the band joined by guest bassist France Winston blend tight musicianship and powerful vocals into a crowd-pleasing live set.

Leave While You Can: A four-piece grunge/alt-rock band from Grimsby, the group is made up of Plazzo on lead guitar and vocals, Ethan and V on guitars, and Alfie on drums. Drawing influence from bands like Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Silverchair, and The Smashing Pumpkins, they focus on tight, high-energy performances and a raw, guitar-driven sound. Their set blends well-known covers with a style that reflects their own take on ‘90s alternative rock.

Straight Teeth: Straight Teeth are an Alternative Rock band playing songs from bands such as Radiohead, Deftones and Rage Against the Machine.

50 Odd Club: Welcome to the 50 Odd Club.  We are a rock focused cover band with songs from bands like Ozzie Osbourne and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. On drums we have Bradly Bradderson smacking his snare very hard and on guitar we have the tall man himself, Louie Blackmore with his solo expertise. On rhythm guitar and vocals we have the real Fred Dursty hitting us with a rap experience of a lifetime! On bass and vocals - Soulle basses the bass! On only bass we have France Winstone slapping it up on the main stage and finally we have Charlie Hogg on vocal duties. Together they make the band known as The 50 Odd Club!!!!
