The Docks Beers Update | July ’19

Hello and welcome to the latest update from Docks Beers.

What a June! The Dockument Solstice party was immense. The heavenly sounds from Mark, Craig and James rocked Docks once again and the trio will be back with us in August. Don’t miss out. Brewdog and Slap & Pickle on 21st June was our busiest ever day inside (and outside) the taproom. We smashed all previous records of pints sold. Huge thanks to all of our customers who came down and supported us. Brewdog were thrilled with the turnout and sent us this message:

“Thanks to the Docks Beers team for a truly awesome BrewDog tap takeover. What an event. Thank you so much for inviting us down and we hope this is the first of many to come. Thank you again from all at BrewDog and we wish you continued success.”

We can confirm there will be another Brewdog event later this year.

Meanwhile in Louth, our beers were pouring at the Outfields festival where we were sponsors. The festival was a huge success. So much so that they had run out of beer by 3pm! The Docks pick-up made an emergency beer run to top them up. Outfields is definitely one to keep an eye on. Next year’s festival promises to be bigger and even better.

Ørsted Great Grimsby 10KM 2019

Never shy of Hard Graft, Docks Beers will be fielding a team of runners in this year’s tape-to-tape event on Sunday 21st July. Stu, Shaz, Lewis and Bridie will be running in Docks Beers kit, so if you see them on the course give them a holla.

There will be a post race event at Docks Beers, so whether you’re a runner or a spectator, we hope you will join us for a sundowner, ahem, warm down. Watch our social media channels (@docksbeers) for more details.

Docks Beers nominated for Food & Drink Awards

Docks Beers is one of the finalists in the Grimsby Telegraph Food & Drink Awards 2019. We are among three nominees in the category of ‘Pub/Bar of the Year’ and will be attending an awards ceremony at Stallingborough Grange on Wednesday 10th July.

The awards celebrate the best of our fabulous food and drink scene across North East Lincolnshire, and also pay tribute to all the innovative and hardworking people behind the industry.

We are honoured to have been nominated by loyal readers of the Telegraph as one of their favourite venues. Fingers crossed for a result! Full report to follow in next month’s update.

Tiny Rebel Tap Takeover – Sat 27th July

Legendary Welsh Brewers Tiny Rebel are coming to town!

Tiny Rebel are an award-winning brewery from Newport, South Wales. They are the youngest and only Welsh brewery to win Champion Beer of Britain and the only brewery to have won gold, silver and bronze in the Champion Beer of Wales competition (in their first year!).

Their beers are darned good so they are bound to sell out like Brewdog did in June. So if you’re making a trip especially to drink manna from Wales, then the sooner you get to the taproom the better. Watch out for details of all the kegs, casks and cans they are bringing with them.

Docks Beers NEIPA Launch - Wind Power

NEIPA Launch – Wind Power 4.5%

Yes. Finally. We are super excited to announce that the next new Docks Beer will be launched in July.

Initially in cask, this beer celebrates the awesomeness of the offshore wind industry that is revitalising our town and helping make Grimsby the world’s epi-centre of offshore wind  maintenance. This will be our take on a NEIPA (New England IPA) with Azacca and Amarillo hops plus oat and wheat additions. It’s going to be a banger.

The launch event will take place on Thursday 11th July. Get on down to the taproom for your first (of what we hope will be many) tastes.

Foodtrucks

Thanks to all the brilliant street food vendors who joined us in June.

Slap & Pickle were astounded by the number of hungry punters they served over the weekend they had a pitch.  They described the Docks hunger as ‘Glastonbury proportions’.

This month sees the return of Galloping Gourmet, Mr Citron, and our friends at Tredici. Our What’s On guide has all the details…

Mobile bar – external events

Docks Beers are delighted to be providing its mobile bar to two prestigious events in Cleethorpes.

On Friday 12th July we will be pouring at the outdoor screening of Bohemian Rhapsody at Meridian Park Showground. Tickets available here.

Then on Sunday 14th July at 2pm, our beers will be helping celebrate the Land of Hope & Glory at Proms at the Pavilion at Cleethorpes Cricket Club. Along with a full orchestra there will be the Sam Baker Jazz Quartet and Taiko drummers.

Docks Beers x Paria cycling jersey

Webshop – Cycling Jersey

Feast your eyes on this beauty! We have big love for all the many keen cyclist customers who ride to and from Docks Beers, so we thought we’d team up with Paria to put our own Docks Beers cycling jersey into production. This will be available to pre-order on the website in July with delivery in August. Our social media channels will let you know as soon as you can order.

New Van

New wheels ahoy!

We have acquired a new delivery van and it’s an absolute monster. It’s a Hard Graft yellow ex civils van with chevrons and emergency lights. Keep an eye out for it on the road. You can’t miss it. Next week it will get a new wrap.

Don’t forget to keep an eye on the ‘What’s on’ section of our website and follow us on social (@docksbeers) for all the latest news and offers. We’ll leave you with this quote from Humphrey Bogart. Until next time, here’s looking at you, kid…

“The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind.” Humphrey Bogart
